I've plowed through 12 pages of comment here and read only one interesting submission presenting new information: the work of Henrik Svensmark, Professor, Technical University of Denmark, Copenhagen. Svensmark suggests it is related to cycles in the Sun’s magnetic activity affecting solar radiation that cause cloud cover which lowers temperatures. Do yourselves a favour, and like I did, find his material and listen to what he says. It is plausible. Try You Tube (5 part) and Wikipedia.

I want to know how many Iraqi civilians died and why Blair, Bush and Howard should not be dragged to the Hague! I also want to know why depleted uranium was used, and by whom, with what government approval, who is going to clean up the mess and pay compensation to the current and future victims! Barbarians!
AN ABSOLUTE EVIL SCANDAL!!!!

If it is the gorilla face then of course it should be removed. It is ugly, offensive and undeserving. If it was child porn it would be gone in a flash and police investigating. Let the Obama's take legal action if necessary. Mind you there are some past 'iron lad-ies' I can think of who deserve this type of cynical treatment and worse. But in this case I think Google are publishing and they should be held accountable to fix it fast when brought to their attention.Very poor taste.

Well, well, well ... three holes in the ground!
Tony Blair recently proved you can dump the Queen as God's intermediary in the UK and dwindling Dominions, get absolution from past sins for conversion (reversion?) -- a big thing for Tony -- and get a spot in the world's oldest multinational corporation. The CEO is a bit questionable from time to time, but they have the power to define the earth as flat and a tradition of persecuting followers of science:. So, be not surprised if GWBush joins up.

Master Chess:
If Iran needs atomic warfare they have Pakistan in their back pocket. This is about getting Obama on the Iraqi boarder, bowing to the Persian empire, as he has been doing to the Japanese and others, and signing a UN peace deal as the processed uranium fuel is handed over for a portion of the Iranian stockpile. Of course, in addition to US military hostages locked in an Iraqi cultural bear trap, there is also the option to banishment half the Persian Jews to Israel-Palestine. Art!

[2] ... And with respect to trust, Iran's stated position is to do the swap/deal on their territory. What is wrong with that? Absolutely nothing! Rational! The solution is very clear for those who actually want peace in the region, at least for the time being: take Iran's offer to trade their semi-processed uranium for processed fuel cells and shut up! Then the world's media can stop being propaganda systems and focus on the real problems facing us: economic, social and environmental meltdown.

[1] Firstly, the UN Security Council has no credibility and should be disbanded or at least reformed with countries like Britain and France being removed as permanent members. Secondly, Israel must be included in any Middle East strategy seeking to deny Iran its NPT rights. That no one can confirm or deny that Isreal have nuclear weapons is a scandal. Thirdly, the issue is not nuclear power but political power, and trust. And which countries have worse records of abuse than the US and the UK?...

Advisors should give advice without fear or favour. Politicians should consider that advice and act according to their aims. Being fully informed they take responsibility and should be accountable at elections. Professor Nutt is correct scientifically, and Johnson shrewd politically. The public are divided and more informed debate is needed To single out cannabis and not consider the evils of alcohol and nicotine is irrational. The crime fostered by illegality is the real public policy issue.

And then there was this one that got through, for a few hours then was pulled -- wonder why?

Subject:
Nutt gets the sack

Posting:
LEST WE FORGET -- "B" is for bad.

"... in England justice is open to all - just like the Ritz". (Sir James Mathew, cited *).

CLASS A & C, OK -- CLASS B, BAD ... ?

-------------
Being from out-of-town, I could never quite understand the British class system, nor it seems now the 'logic' in all this drug policy. It seems that really money is the key to it all -- aka not having enough of it in spite of the Rule of Law (i.e. all before it are equal etc).

One would assume that with all this noise about a little old weed, that has sustained modern-day Rastafarians and India's Shivarites for timeless millennia, and even US Presidents have smoked, some even inhaling, we miss the main point proved in 2008 by Hans and Eva Rausing the billionaire Tetra Pak couple: it's being poor that is the real crime.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1584719/Tetra-Pak-heirs-wife-with-cocaine-in-her-bag.html

In 2008 the Rausings made news by being caught with "... a huge haul of cocaine, crack and heroin" but were able to "escape prosecution" with a good lawyer. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1039493/One-law-billionaires-Tetra-Pak-heir-wife-caught-crack-cocaine-heroin-wont-face-court.html#ixzz0VVBHBWS9

Government policy it seems does not extend to the upper classes of British society. In the case of the Rausings all charges were dropped and they did not even end up with criminal records (and so they can still travel to the USA one would assume). Around that time Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair announced that middle-class addicts who snort cocaine at dinner parties are not above the law, but Kate Moss was an exception it seems, despite the publication of images of her snorting cocaine.

The Rausing's lawyer's request that the "press should be asked to leave to keep proceedings secret" was denied and "Mr Rausing was charged with possessing 0.2oz of crack cocaine, 0.1oz of heroin and almost 1.8oz of cocaine at his home. Mrs Rausing faced charges of possessing Class A and Class C drugs."

So this is the link to Professor Nutt: he is obviously guilty of being simple minded -- it is obvious, Class A & C drugs are ok as long as you are not poor (or middle class perhaps), but obviously Class B is different: obviously "B" is for bad, and Postie-craft-logic therefore says A & C, not being B, are not bad, and therefore, if you are not poor, 'good'. Nutt is obviously out of his depth and should go! Weed is bad because the Rausings did not have any when caught in 2008.

It all ends with the Rausings being happy with a "sensible decision". But the hypocrisy and double standards of it is clear: "Usually, addicts caught with such huge quantities of drugs will face a prison sentence. But according to the source, the guidelines state that the value of drug possessed by an offender should be considered in relation to their own wealth." (ref *)

Perhaps the good professor should direct Mr Johnson to Hans and Eva for good public policy advice. He might even get an invite over to have some practical evidence-based policy experiments with tea and scones at 4:00!

Let's hope that this storm-in-a-tea-cup also ends happily with a "sensible decision". Mr Johnson, wake up, say sorry, and invite Professor Nutt back to give you considered scientific advice "without fear or favour". You can then work on good public policy knowing that science, and not some faith based bias, is at its foundation.
